Places To Purchase

In this section I will review the two main types of places to buy cigars here in Knoxville, TN. Knoxville is fortunate to have a very large selection of retail shops to choose from when you would like to purchase a hand rolled premium cigar. There are also several smaller retailers in which you might find a good value when you’re in need of one or in a hurry. There are basically two types of these retail shops that I will review – smoke shops and tobacconists.

 

Smoke Shop – A smoke shop can be categorized as a retail establishment that sells different types of tobacco products; i.e. cigarettes, chews, snuff, roll-your-own, and other tobacco type merchandise and their accessories. A smoke shop will also sell other convenience store type products, such as sodas, snacks, lighters, medicines, energy pills, sunglasses, and other retail trinkets that you would find in a local bodega. Another major distinction that a smoke shop will have, and how I personally classify it as different from a tobacconist, is that a smoke shop will have a drive-through window so their patrons may drive up and purchase products without getting out of their automobiles.

Tobacconists – A tobacconist is defined as a retail shop that caters only to the selling of premium cigars, pipes, specialty cigarettes, and other smoking accessories. These retail shops will also have a seating area or lounge that a patron may use in the enjoyment of their tobacco smoking. A tobacconist will also employ knowledgeable sales representatives to help guide patrons in their selection of premium tobacco products and accessories. Also a tobacconist may have other specialty items for sale that cater to a more aficionado type lifestyle; i.e. imported coffees, men’s shavings products, bath soaps, perfumes, and other more expensive products, such as pens and watches.
